Application

Where there is 25kV overhead lines and 750V DC, the non-linear resistors provide a path back to source for currents flowing in short circuits of the 25kV AC overhead lines, while limiting the current which flows during the normal operation of the railway.

Operation

The spark gap device triggers to limit earth voltage to a safe level.

The resistors limit the running rail touch voltage to within safe levels.

This restricts the risk of stray d.c. currents.

Non Linear Ceramic Disc Resistor assemblies.

(This must be matched to system requirements)

Current ratings up to 9000A D.C.

These are often used in conjunction with Return Current Isolators.
