Underground & Mass Transit

LCS provide On-load and Off-Load DC switchgear enclosures for isolation and safe maintenance of the modern highly reliable Underground ** & Mass Transit systems.
These range from 2000A - 4400A typically but applications have been as high as 6000A.
Typical configurations are as follows:

  • Section Isolation (Track Sectioning)
  • Track/Overhead line Isolation & Bonding

** The Underground switchgear is designed to meet the very stringent London Underground standards of low smoke zero halogen. LCS employ high grade equipment suitable for the railway environment but the London Underground switchgear employs many special components which are beyond the standard Low Smoke Zero Halogen materials.

London Underground Tube Lines P400 Power Supply Upgrade

LCS is just starting to supply manual off load / fault make Depot Switches and motorised and manual Tunnel Switches for the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly Lines.

Midland Metro Substation switches

Substation 5A and 7 switchgear for the depot and fan upgrades to Wednesbury Depot were supplied by LCS in early 2013 with Substation 9 to follow at a later date.

London Underground SSL Metropolitan Line Upgrade

LCS is currently supplying manual off load / fault Make Depot Switches and motorised and manual Tunnel Switches for the Metropolitan Line.

London Underground Victoria Line Upgrade VLU

LCS has recently completed an order to supply motorised and manual Tunnel Switches for the VLU.
